Jason Van Der Meer
CAPTAIN
JASON, born in South Africa on the 19th August 1992;
Jason’s goal has always been to live an exciting life, growing up he was fortunate enough to be surrounded by other like minded individuals and has a vast array of skills. He used to be a professional MX racer, but was always in love with the water. He spends most of his time in the Zulu Kingdom of South Africa and lives in the picturesque coastal town of Ballito, South Africa. He enjoys sailing, deep sea diving, spear fishing and wildlife exploration with his father.
He is in-love with the outdoors and loves to share his passion for the environment and the amazing wildlife we share it with. He loves giving back whenever he can, he is extremely committed to his profession where his main concern is safety and ensuring his guests have the time of their lives.
He is a certified RYA Coastal Skipper with over 3,000nm logged in the Greek Waters & 1,000nm logged in the Atlantic Ocean & 1,500nm logged in the Indian Ocean - he’s a certified PADI Rescue Diver & a certified Emergency First Responder. He hopes to own his own yacht and sail a round the world one day, soon!
Tanyka Tyas
HOSTESS
She has acquired hands-on experience and an intimate knowledge of the many and varied Caribbean itineraries, equipping her to advise charter guests on the myriad of fascinating destinations, events, activities, the best places to dine and hidden gems known only to locals.
“I love the yachting lifestyle and the peace only found at sea. It’s one of the most beautiful vacations that a family or friends can enjoy together. So, from being crew and responsible for delivering that experience, it’s very exciting and rewarding to be apart of such an experience.”
When she’s not working on the finer details of bespoke charters, Tanyka can be found sailing and dreaming about future voyages. When she is off the boats, she is constantly thinking about them and wishing to go back to one soon.
This lifestyle is so deeply entrenched that quite often she spends her vacations aboard yachts, visiting far-flung, exciting and romantic destinations.
